A brief history...

Quirindi Toastmasters Club was established in the early 1980s.

A first meeting was held between members of the local Quota club, who had suggested it might be good to have a Toastmasters club in Quirindi, and representatives from the Tamworth Toastmasters Club.

It was decided to stage a demonstration meeting to gauge interest in the idea.

Around 30 people, including members of the Tamworth club, attended the demonstration meeting which became the Formation Meeting when those present voted to establish a Toastmasters Club in Quirindi.

A steering committee was formed headed up by John Reilly who was also to become the Charter President when the Club became "official" in 1981.

The steering committee decided it wasn't going to charter under-strength so worked assiduously over the 12 to 18 months after the first meeting to build a strong basis for the new club.

And the rest, as they say, is certainly history, as the Club celebrated first its fifth, then 10th, 15th and 20th anniversaries until November 2006 when the Club's quarter century was celebrated.

During its time to date, the Quirindi Toastmasters Club has helped hundreds of people in the town and district improve their communication and leadership skills.

This has been achieved through Speechcraft, Youth Leadership, and the opportunity to learn in a fun and friendly environment on the meetings held twice a month in a mutually supportive atmosphere.

Many members have gone to compete at higher levels in speech, evaulation and table topics competitions (including to District [or state] level), and a number have held higher office within the Toastmasters organisation in Australia.
