Quirindi is the hub of the Liverpool Plains Shire, located a short distance off the New England Highway, 354 km north of Sydney and 63 km south-west of Tamworth.

Take the drive from Willow Tree and your approach to Quirindi will be the same as Surveyor-General, Sir Thomas Mitchell's in 1831 where he came across squatters who had pushed beyond the legal limits of location at the time looking for rich pastures.

The Quirindi district has a friendly active population of around 3,000 people who enjoy an outdoor orientated lifestyle. A variety of pubs and clubs complement sporting activities ranging from bowls and golf to polocrosse and field and game shooting.

There's tennis, squash, cricket, rugby (both union and league), service clubs, art & crafts and even a rodeo association.

The town boasts some of the best horse facilities in NSW for just about every conceivable horse sport and all this is backed up with schools, hospitals and other services which would be the envy of many larger centres.

Quirindi is on the Great Northern Rail line with daily services to and from Sydney. It is a mere 14klms to the New England Highway providing a 4 hour link to Sydney and just on 3 hours to Newcastle. The beaches of the NSW mid-North Coast are just as close and Tamworth is less than 40 minutes away.

Quirindi Toastmasters meets the first and third Tuesday of the month (note change of meeting day) at the “Tony Caine Meeting Room” Quirindi RSL Club, Station Street, Quirindi. Meetings commence at 8:00 PM sharp and last approximately two hours.

Fees A one time joining fee applies; thereafter $42 is paid twice yearly. This fee covers club expenses, educational material and The Toastmaster magazine.

Toastmasters International

Toastmasters International is the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality.

Whatever your goals may be, your success in life depends on your ability to speak. People who can verbalise their ideas so that they are heard, understood and acted upon, possess one of the most important qualities in life.
The Toastmasters program offers you the opportunity to develop your communication skills – thereby opening doors in your personal and professional life. You will learn not by rule alone, but by doing; by actually speaking in your club. This will not occur in an academic setting, but in an atmosphere of understanding and helpful fellowship.

Toastmasters’ training has helped many members in their community service activities. Using the speaking and leadership skills developed in Toastmasters, they become more active in business, churches and service organisations. They are able to organise activities, conduct meetings and speak in public as their organisation’s representative.

The rewards are tremendous and varied. Take full advantage of these opportunities so you can learn, grow and achieve.

Toastmasters learn best in moments of enjoyment

The mission of Quirindi Toastmasters is:

To provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment for members to develop communication and leadership skills which, in turn, foster self-confidence and personal growth.

The Toastmasters program is for everyone 18 years or older. Our members are from a variety of occupations and backgrounds. They include accountants, shop owners, farmers, teachers, managers, students, homemakers, sales people, job seekers, health workers, investors, and electrical engineers.

Because we work closely with people whose daily lives are different from our own, we become more aware of the community in which we live and more exposed to different ideas and opinions.

Recognition

Toastmasters International has a number of awards recognising achievement in its communication and leadership program.

The first is the Competent Toastmaster (CTM) Award, given to all members who complete the basic manual of 10 speeches.

In the communication track, Bronze, Silver and Gold Advanced Toastmaster awards follow while in the leadership track, Competent Leader (CL) is the first, followed by Advanced Leader (AL).

The Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Award is the highest recognition our organisation offers.

Ours is the only organisation I know that is dedicated to the individual. We work together to bring out the best in each of us and then we apply our skills to help others.
